BSA Scout Troop #692

Hello & Welcome,

Troop 692 is proud of their Scouts & many accomplishments!  Having fun while working hard and being great citizens is our goal.  We camp all over Vermont and New England - always looking for adventure and excitement, we most recently took a crew to Northern Maine for a Canoeing High Adventure!

We are also continually serving our community in many ways through conservation efforts and community service.

Scouts build skills to prepare them for life and adventure! For example, we have sent Scouts to Camp Bechtel in West Virginia for 4-wheeling! Scouts have been sailing in St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands. Our Scouts have hiked the amazing mountains of New Mexico at the famous Scout Ranch of Philmont!  These are just a few of the many adventures that can happen through Scouting.

Boys between the ages of 11 and 17 can join at any time and are encouraged to do so.  Please reach out if your son is interested, everyone is welcome - come check us out!

Summer 2021 Scouting Info!

Posted on Aug 3 2021 - 8:58am

Hello Scouts and Families,

We have successfully closed the Chapter of this Scouting year, congrats to all of you for all you have accomplished!

Special Eagle Court of Honor - June 6th

Posted on May 21 2021 - 7:12pm

All of our Scouts and family members are cordially invited to attend a very special Eagle Court of Honor at which we will recognize Matt Yandow and Jared Kartschoke for attaining the rank of Eagle.  Only 4% of Scouts worldwide attain this rank, so we are hoping to have as many Scouts, friends and family members in attendance as possible. The event will take place at 4:00pm under the big tent outside of Williston Central School on Sunday, June 6th.  Attendees should bring their own lawn chairs to sit and Scouts should come wearing full uniforms (Scout shirt; neckerchief; sash; and Scout/dress pants).  Please sign up on the website if you plan to attend.

Spectrum Sleepout - HUGE SUCCESS!!!!

Posted on Mar 27 2021 - 9:14am

The challenge was made to our Troop to raise $3,000.00 in support of homeless youth during Spectrum's virtual sleep out and not at all surprisingly, our families stepped up to the plate and knocked it out of the park! 22 Scouts and 7 adult leaders spent the night in their backyards to raise awareness for this important cause and as a Troop, we absolutely shattered our previous record by raising $5,030.00 in donations to support Spectrum Youth and Family Services! THANK YOU to all of the Scouts and parents you participated in this event and thank you to all of the adults, friends and family members who very generously made financial donations to support this cause! A special thank you goes out to Mr. Cotton for once again organizing this event on behalf of our Troop. Our Troop's effort truly embodies what Scouting is all about and is evidence of what a great community we have!

Spectrum Sleepout

Posted on Mar 12 2021 - 9:11pm

Just as a reminder, we have our virtual Spectrum Sleepout coming up on Friday, March 26th.  In addition to signing up on the website, Scouts are encouraged to join the team  and to start soliciting donations from sponsors.  Last year, our Troop raised over $2,500.00 for this worthy cause and our goal is to reach $3,000.00 this year.   We have a long way to go in order to reach that goal, but we can definitely pull it off! Scouts can both join the team and have sponsors make donations by using the following link:  http://give.spectrumvt.org/site/TR/Events/TeamRaiserWorkshop?team_id=2020&pg=team&fr_id=1120

Summer camp registration is now available

Posted on Feb 19 2021 - 7:05am

We are pleased to announce that our Troop has reserved a week of overnight camp at the Mount Norris Scout Reservation from July 11th through July 16th. In addition to being a lot of fun, summer camp is a great opportunity to earn merit badges (including some of those hard to get Eagle badges) and to work on rank advancements. Please note that we will need male and female adult leaders to sign up as we will have both our boys and girls in attendance.  Prices have not yet been announced, however, we anticipate that it will likely be between $400 and $450 per Scout.  Families are encouraged to sign up early so that we have a better idea as to what our numbers will look like.  *** Please note, that while we have been assured by the Council that they will be able to find space for all who sign up for that week, there is a good chance that we won't be able to fit our entire Troop on one site.***

Scout Camp - Summer 2021

Posted on Feb 4 2021 - 4:10pm

Right now our Troop has a spot reserved at Camp Norris for Week One of Scout Camp which runs from July 11th through July 16th.  We are trying to figure out logistics and the number of spots that might be available for our Scouts. This is where we need YOUR help.   If anyone has a Scout who is NOT planning to attend summer camp this year, please e-mail Jason Ruwet at jasonruwet@gmail.com as soon as possible so that we can take that into consideration. We know that people's plans might be up in the air and that plans could change, but if you definitively know that your Scout won't be attending camp this year, we need to know that asap for planning purposes.
